The Full Story — Nathali & Cengiz Barlas, Wimberley TX
The Lazy Lavender was never supposed to be a business.
Nathali and Cengiz Barlas came to the Texas Hill Country the way most people do — drawn by the landscape, the light, and the particular quiet that settles over Wimberley at dusk. They stayed. And then, the way passion projects tend to, The Lazy Lavender grew from one house into something much more.
Today The Lazy Lavender is a collection of five completely unique boutique vacation homes on one Hill Country estate — the Treehouse, the Treetop House, the Artsy Cabin, the Farmhouse, and the Designers Cottage. No two are alike. That was the point from the very beginning.

Built by hand. Designed with intention.
Nathali and Cengiz grew up in Europe and have spent the past thirty years building a life across America. Their passion for design runs deep — three of The Lazy Lavender's five houses were personally designed by Nathali and Cengiz without the involvement of an architect. Every detail was chosen deliberately: the Son & Cole wallpaper in the Treehouse, the full-wall commissioned mural by celebrated artist Carrie Schmitt in the Treetop House, the vibrant green floors and locally commissioned artwork in the Artsy Cabin, the copper sink in the Designers Cottage, the Restoration Hardware living room in the Farmhouse. Nothing was chosen at random. Nothing was replicated from one house to the next.
The results speak for themselves.
The Lazy Lavender has been recognized by Austin Monthly, Bend Magazine, and ABC KSAT as one of the most distinctive vacation rental experiences in the Texas Hill Country. With a 4.97 star rating across 664 reviews — and Superhost status on Airbnb — The Lazy Lavender has become Wimberley's most reviewed boutique vacation rental property.
But the number that matters most to Nathali and Cengiz isn't the rating. It's the guests who come back. The couples who got engaged here and returned for their first anniversary. The families who book the same house every summer. The groups who discovered that five private houses on one property is the only way to do a reunion right.
The Texas Hill Country is home.
The Lazy Lavender isn't a portfolio of properties. It's a place — 2.5 acres of live oaks, Hill Country views, white-tailed deer at dusk, and five houses that each tell their own story. Nathali and Cengiz live off-property but are never far away — every question gets a response within minutes, every stay gets a personally curated starter kit, and every guest leaves with the feeling that someone genuinely cared about their time here.
That's not an accident. That's the point.
