The Blue Hole Regional Park covers an area of 126 acres of natural forests and grass fields. The park offers plenty of space for running, biking, walking, picnics, and more, making it an ideal space to discover nature during all seasons.

Below, we summarized everything you need to know about swimming at the Blue Hole in Wimberley, Texas

The remainder of the park, including the hiking trails, playground, picnic areas, and sports fields, are free and open to the public and do not require reservations.

Swim season is May 1st through Labor Day and weekends in September.

Water Temperature: As the name implies, the Blue Hole features beautiful, clear blue water. This spring-fed swimming hole stays at a perfect 75 degrees all year round, with giant Cypress trees providing ample shade.

Parking and Amenities: Ample parking is available adjacent to the park. After checking in at the park office, you will receive a wristband for each swimmer. Restrooms are available to change, and a large grassy area to relax on the river bank and enjoy a picnic.

Kid-Friendly: This is a great swimming destination for families with children. The short walk from the parking lot to the swimming hole is stroller and wagon-friendly on a paved path. The swimming area has a shallow end, making it easy to get in and out of the swimming area. In the deeper areas, there are multiple docks and ladders. The highlight is undoubtedly the old-fashioned rope swing that will delight young and old. For kids, it is worth mentioning that there is a playscape and a soccer field.

Pro Tip: Bring blankets, towels, or chairs to set up on the grassy lawn. A shade cover is recommended in Summer. Bring a cooler and enjoy a picnic in the park. Floats are allowed. We also recommend the use of Water shoes.
